Trips Available:  Saturday and Sundays Only.

  

Rates:  All kayak renters must sign a Liability Release waiver. 

 All prices include:

  •  Kayaks with waterside delivery & pickup

  •  Basic safety and operation instructions
  •  River Orientation

The amount of time each trip takes varies.  Times quoted are averages. Go at your own pace

  1. Upper Wood River Half Trip 4 miles, 1 1/2 -3+ hours -$39. Full Trip 7 miles with Portage- $45.
  2. Lower Wood River Half trip-2 +hours, 4.5 miles -$39. Full trip- 7.5 miles with portage, $45.
  3. Carolina River Trip - 7+ miles w/ portage-  $45
  4. Pawcatuck River, Westerly -7.5 miles, 3-4 hours -$55.
  5. Great Swamp Half Trip - 2 1/2 hours- $39. Full Trip: 5 1/2 hrs. -$55.
  6. Narrow River Early bird paddles.  Hourly rentals anytime between 5:30 - 9 a.m, Single, $25, Double, $35, Fishing Kayak, $40.  Shuttle to/from beach or your hotel-$5/party.

Single and double kayaks available.  No sales tax on boat rentals in Rhode Island. 


Kayak Today accepts payment by:

VISA, MasterCard, Cash or Check.

Security Deposit is required. All rentals must be secured by a credit card in case of damage/loss of boat, paddle or other Kayak Today gear.  A Waiver Release Form must be signed by all renters.

Cancellation Policy:

If a tour needs to be cancelled b/c of weather conditions you will recieve a call telling you so either the night before or on the morning of the trip. 
No payment would be expected if a tour was cancelled due to the weather. We will make every effort to reschedule it.

If you need to cancel a tour for any reason we ask that you give us 24 hours advance notice. If a tour is cancelled after that time Kayak Today will charge you 1/2 price of the tour scheduled.


Be Prepared.   Bring/ Wear

  1. Shoes that can get wet
  2. Drinks / snacks
  3. Hat / Sun visor
  4. Nylon jacket/windbreaker
  5. Sunscreen
  6. Bug spray
  7. An extra set of clothing/ towel in case you get wet.

 Optional:  Camera, Field guide, BInoculars.

It's best to wear clothing that if wet will dry quickly. Try to stay away from cotton shorts or jeans and opt for clothing in nylon/polyester blends.

The Stagecoach House Inn, 1136 Main Street, Wyoming, is next door to where we meet for the Wood River Trips.  There is a large gravel/dirt parking lot,  the Wyoming Fishing Access just past the Stagecoach House on the right at Bridge Street and the waterfall.

From the public parking lot Kayak Today will shuttle you up to the put-in site.

Bird Tour Meeting Spot (Narrow River)

From Route 1 in South Kingstown at the Tower at Rte. 1 & Bridgetown Rd. take Bridgetown Road down the hill. At the bottom of hill, at the bend in the road make a right onto Middlebridge Rd. Just after the grassy park/playground area on your right, make a left onto Pollack Ave. where Kayak Today will be waiting for you- Map.Meeting spot mapped


Narrow River & John H. Chafee NW Refuge starting point:  

Travel North on Route 1A (Boston Neck Rd.) approx. one mile from Naragansett Beach.  Just past the Dunes club, up the hill on the left is the parking area for the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge.

From the North:
Follow I-95 S to Exit 9, Rte 4 S. Follow Route 4 South to Route 1 South. Stay on Rte 1 S for approximately 3 miles. At Tower Hill Road intersection take a right onto 138 West for approximately 5 miles (pass URI on right). Just past the traffic light at Route 110, (Ministerial Road) on the left side you will see the parking lot, Taylor's Landing, Liberty Lane. It is across the street from Sosnowski Farm and next to Taylor's Landing Country Store.

From the South:
Follow I-95 North to Exit 3, Route 138 East.
Follow Route 138 East approximately 10 miles. Just past Rte 2, after the Amtrack station and the Mobil gas station you will see Great Swamp, Liberty Lane parking area on your right.


Pawcatuck River Meeting Spot:  Bradford Fishing Access Site, Route 91, Bradford.  Map - maps.google.com/maps  The river put-in is across the street from Bradford Dyeing Association.  Large gravel /dirt lot for 20+ vehicles.

From I-95  take RI Exit 1 (right at end of exit).  Take Rte. 3 South towards Ashaway.  Travel approx. 2 miles.  Make a left onto Rte. 216.  Travel approx. 2 miles.  Make a right onto Rte. 91.  The Bradford fishing access parking area is less than 1/4 mile ahead on left -before the Tim Horton's Donut Shop.
From Westerly:
Take Route 1 to the Wal-mart/ Benny's Intersection; take Westerly/Bradford Road to Route 91 East.  The parking lot will be on your right side across from the Bradford Dye Plant. (Approx. a 5 minute ride from Rte. 1.)
